Course objectives
Students will learn about art-therapeutic approaches in the context of contemporary art therapy streams. Furthermore, students will be introduced to art therapy techniques that allow deeper knowledge of the content of creation, oneself and understanding of other people. Aim of the course:
1. A deeper grasp of the basics of art therapy, which are necessary for the planning, implementation and reflection of artistic and therapeutic activities;
2. Understanding of theoretical background in the field of art therapy and psychotherapy, artistic expression, art techniques and art procedures;
3. The student perceives a unique and distinctive artistic expression, which is reflected, for example, in signs and symbols, artistic expression, verbalization, image and movement;
4. The student learns to reflect on the artistic process;
5. The student will learn the so-called "reading of images" and adequate interpretation of the resulting artifacts.
As part of the exercises, students will try expressive and artistic-therapeutic activities that are used in practice as tools to learn about and influence the client's psyche. During the exercises, art therapy activities with an interdisciplinary character will be presented, which help influence the client's personality changes (or mitigate or prevent inadequate mental manifestations). Through the creative process, students will better understand contemporary art-therapeutic tendencies that are applicable both in social work and in school facilities.
