- Course objectives
- The course is conceived as a theoretical one. It provides information on the concept of health of individuals and families. It highlights one of the fundamental functions of midwifery in the society - educational activities in health promotion and prevention of illness and possible complications. It prepares students for one of the future competencies consisting of sex education and family planning. It acquaints the students with the contents, methods and procedures in the field of sexual education, reproductive health and family planning which are designed for different age groups. Part of the course is a didactic preparation of individual topics for future clients.
- Learning outcomes
- Professional Knowledge: Student have knowledge of the cause and mechanisms of the formation of dental caries and periodontal diseases. They know the methods and means of prevention and prophylaxis. They have knowledge of specific dietary factors in the protection and promotion of dental health.
Professional Skills: Students can define sexual and reproductive rights of the individual.
General Qualification: Students are familiar with psychosocial, demographic and economic context of sex education and family planning and well versed in sexual dysfunctions and their solutions. - Syllabus
- 1. Sexual and reproductive rights in the Czech, European and global context.
- 2. Family planning.
- 3. Demographic aspects of family planning.
- 4. Sexual dysfunction in men and women, their possible solutions.
- 5. Male and female contraception, positives and negatives using specific methods.
- 6. Hormonal contraceptives.
- 7. Fertility problems and possible solutions (reproductive medicine, foster care).
- 8. Assisted reproduction; kinds, ethical, psychosocial, legal and economic aspects.
- 9. Reproductive health - preventive measures (e.g., obesity, anorexia, smoking, sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS).
