- Course objectives
- The course builds on previous psychological disciplines and aims to combine theoretical knowledge and practical skills within the professional competencies achieved in undergraduate training. The student will understand the psychological aspects of the process of socialization, social contact and group life. He will be able to use the acquired knowledge in practice.
- Learning outcomes
- Expertise:
- the student demonstrates knowledge of the theory, subject and methodology of social psychology
- the student is able to clarify the process of socialization, the issue of social relations
- the student is able to explain the psychological aspects of group life
- the student recognizes challenging, problematic, conflict and stressful situations, learns the basic strategies for their management
- the student is well versed in the terminology of social psychology
Professional skills:
- the student is able to apply some methods and techniques of social psychology in practice
- the student is reliably oriented in the relevant professional literature, can find, interpret and apply the acquired information in practice
General competences:
- the student is able to observe and recognize the mechanisms of functioning of interpersonal relationships and social units
- student is able to explain the practical implications of personality socialization and mechanisms of social learning
- student is able to apply selected methods and techniques of social psychology
- the student is able to explain human behavior in stressful and conflict situations, can use adequate strategies for their management
- the acquired knowledge and skills will help the student to improve social interaction and communication with people with disabilities and other populations and support the development of his social competencies - Syllabus
- 1. Introduction to the study of social psychology, subject and relation of social psychology to other fields.
- 2. Formation of social psychological ideas (directions and selected theories of human social conditioning).
- 3. Socialization as a relationship between the individual and his environment.
- 4. Social interactions.
- 5. Social perception.
- 6. Social communication.
- 7. Challenging, problematic, frustrating, stressful (stressful) social situations.
- 8. Conflicting social situations, ways of resolving conflicts.
- 9. Psychology of group life (classification, properties, group structure, group leadership and management).
- 10. Social attitudes.
- 11. Prejudices.
- 12. Possibilities of application of some methods and techniques of social psychology in practice.

- Seminar work: Application of selected research techniques of social psychology, including processing and interpretation of acquired data. Submission of the seminar paper is a condition for registration for the written exam. Successful completion of a written exam according to evaluation indicators.
