- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to enable students to obtain basic information about nursing care, including practice in practical procedures. After completing the course, the student will be able to perform basic nursing interventions in accordance with the latest knowledge while following lege artis procedures. It enables students to gain a basic understanding of basic human needs including their saturation in clients/patients. Part of the course is aimed at acquiring expertise in the most common chronic diseases, including the specifics of nursing care for these clients/patients
- Syllabus
- 1. Nursing as a science, nursing care, human needs from the perspective of nursing. Collaboration between social work and health care.
- 2. Providing a safe home environment, equipment, basic safety features and aids.
- 3. Prevention of infection, hand washing, use of gloves, isolation of the patient, care of tools, disinfection, sterilization.
- 4. Promoting patient activity, mobilization.
- 5. Hygiene care, bedside hygiene training, oral care, hair, nails, feet care.
- 6. Prevention of decubitus, positioning.
- 7. Eating area - feeding the patient, assisting in feeding the patient with swallowing disorder, weight monitoring, weighing, monitoring food and fluid intake, enteral nutrition, nasogastric and orogastric probes.
- 8. Dietary system, distribution of diets, use of diets in the context of medical care.
- 9. Vital signs - measurement of physiological functions: body temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, measurement of oxygen saturation.
- 10. Excretion - feeding of a bedpan, fluid balance.
- 11. Medication administration - oral, topical, eye and ear, inhalation, suppositories, oxygen therapy.
