Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce development, action and history of political movements, parties and their programmes in central Europe in the 19th and 20th century. Political movements, parties and ideologies have been influencing national, regional and European history markedly. The cognition of their scope and programmes or ideas of profile personalities will contribute markedly to wider understanding of central European history in given time period, The primary axis of interpretation will be divided into three chronological periods. The first one will be aimed at origin and formation of modern national movements, on beginnings of political party spirit and liberal constitution from Napoleon era till World War I. The second one will follow development of political movements, parties and ideologies and their changes in central European countries from 1918 till rise of communist regimes and beginnings of cold war at the end of the 40´s of the 20th century. The third one will be dedicated to destruction and decline of political party sprit in satellite regimes of Sovietised central Europe in the period of two power blocks, the first crises and efforts to reform communist systems in central Europe in the 50´s of the 20th century till the decline of communism and beginnings of their transformation after 1989.
