Course objectives
The aim of study of the course English for public administration 1 is that the students will be able of basic communication in English regarding common topics in simple sentences, the advanced students will be able to communicate about current topic without previous preparation. The course is based on self-study of recommended literature and e-texts for combined study. The students will participate in some tutorials in which they can consult the concrete issues and test their knowledge. The work with compulsory and recommended literature or other sources (extend at about 100 pages) is expected. The students will concentrate on elementary vocabulary of so called Office English it means English for authorities and company. Issue: work of consultancy company, functioning of company in public and private sector, work in small work collective, work at home and in big international company. The group of pre- intermediate (i. e. language course attendants and self-students) will revise and deepen basic knowledge according to book New Headway Elementary, the language level of students will be unified and the study will continue. The group of intermediate (secondary school graduates and English maturita exam graduates) will develop further primary knowledge and the professional word-stock is enlarged considerably. The course includes also reading of specialized literature and other written sources. The course for beginners will not be realized.
