Course objectives
The course characterizes the role of political persecutions and repressions in non-democratic forms of government, their typology and periodization. The first part of the teaching presents the forms and methods of research of political repressions, rules of register of victims of persecution and methods of comparative analysis of mechanicals of political repressions of non-democratic regimes. The attention is paid to depiction of historical connections of origin, activities and roles of internment and prison camps and structures of their victims, to comparison of repressive character of court as well as out-of-court persecutions including politically motivated executions, as well as to process of rehabilitation of victims of persecution in individual types of regimes, especially in central and eastern Europe, at the same time the interpretation will be based on published as well as results of own long-term researches not yet published. The students will be then presented possibilities of comparative analysis and typology of political persecutions in non-democratic regimes of central and eastern Europe in the 20th century on concrete materials.

Written exam - the first part in a form of a test with closed questions testing the theoretical and practical knowledge of the issue, the second in a form of comparative essay (comparison of two phenomena).
