Course objectives
The objective of the course is to familiarize the student with basic principles of psychotherapy. The course describes the scope of psychotherapy, types of psychotherapy, classification of the field, its methods, approaches and applications. On completion of the course the student is able to orientate themselves in the discipline of psychotherapy.
Syllabus
  • 1. Psychotherapy as a discipline - its objectives, classification and methods.
    2. Current trends in psychotherapy.
    3. Therapist´s personality, psychotherapeutic interview.
    4. Psychotherapeutic relationship, psychotherapeutic process.
    5. Scope of applications in psychotherapy - emergency psychological care, dealing with an aggressive patient, patients with intractable diseases. Victims of violence.
    6. Transactional analysis.

Credit requirements: 80 % active participation. Students who could not attend a number of lessons for serious reasons will be assigned extra tasks.
Analysis and defense of a seminar paper. Credit test.
