Course objectives
The course contents consist in nurse's knowledge and skills important for understanding of significance of clients'/patients' free time. It is focused mainly on senior citizens, but it also provides information on other age categories, children included. It provides exercises with music, which are appropriate for both seniors and people suffering from mental retardation. It also points at new possibilities of free time using by seniors and handicapped people.

  • Course contents:
    1. Free time, definitions, terminology.
    2. Significance of free time for humans.
    3. Free time of elderly people.
    4. Free time of other age categories.
    5. Exercises for seniors with music sitting or on a wheelchair.
    6. Exercises focused on development of precise movements 1.
    7. Exercises focused on development of precise movements 2.
    8. Development of seniors' cognitive functions.
    9. Specific activities focused on development of cognitive functions.

Attendance in a minimum of 80 per cent of seminars is required for completion. Students who could not attend a number of lessons for serious reasons will be assigned extra tasks.
