Course objectives
The course is designed in relation to the subject the History of Social Work at the Bachelor's degree. The aim is to apprise students with the religious, philosophical and ethical bases of social care and with the history of social care and social work in the context of social policy. Attention will be paid to basic concepts in history, the genesis and development of social work as a social discipline in the context of modern social policies, and to significant personalities of social care and social work especially in the western world and in the Czech republic.

    3rd Philosophical and ethical principles of social work
    4th Social care in antiquity
    5th The development of social care and support in the Middle Ages
    6th Between repression and mercy (social policy and care from the 16th to 18th century)
    7th The formation of modern social policy and social work in the 19th century
    8th The development of social work as a specialized field in the 20th century
    9th Social Care in the Czech countries till 18th century
    10th The beginnings of social work in the Czech countries and the Slovak Republic in the 19th century
    11th Social work in Czechoslovakia till the World War II (1918-1939)
    12th Transformation of social care in Czechoslovakia 1945-1989
