Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The subject provides basic knowledge of selected topics of social policy in wider international and national context including ethical and social dimensions. The topics to be taught offer an overview of new attitudes not only in relation to social policy but also to the area of entrepreneurship and public administration. The current trend of economic globalization brings new challenges which the contemporary as well as next generation should be able to solve with knowledge of contemporary theory dealing with this issue. The subject provides the students with information on topical issues of social policy in relation to social responsibility, volunteering, donation, philanthropy, altruism in connection to application of these approaches in practice, in conditions of the Czech republic as well as on the world scale. These theoretical and successive practical examples will be applicable for the students not only in further study but especially in future professional life.
Syllabus
  • 1. Risk society, new social risks. Vision of sustainable development.
    2. Human solidarity and moral dimension, social marketing.
    3. Issue of common good, socially beneficial matter and solidarity.
    4. Origins of philanthropy, philanthropic institutions in CR/SR and in the world.
    5. Vision and phenomenon of social entrepreneurship.
    6. Current trends of social policy, new issues of social policy.
    7. Corporate social responsibility, international initiatives, importance, main possibilities and definition.
    8. Corporate social responsibility in the world and in the Czech/Slovak Republic.
    9. Pillars of corporate social responsibility, methods of implementation of responsibility principle, organizations´ activities, role of social partners.
    10. Social policy and services for persons with specific needs. Social integration in regional, national and European context.
    11. Qualities in social services and state administration in context of individual needs of social help receivers.
    12. Comparison of social services in CR/SR and in the EU countries.
    13. Social integration programs, stability and perspective of social service, new trends in social work, examples of good practice.
