- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide the characteristics of foundation, development and formation of regions based on traditional industrial branches not only in the territory of Austria-Hungary, The Czechoslovak republic but also in wider European context. The attention will be paid also to entrepreneur activities (personalities) which participate in (foundation) formation of regions. Another part of the course will follow the development phases of regions till present days. The aim is to present the complexity of economic legacy which our society faced after 1989 and which was forced to follow.

- 1. Introduction - general characteristics, beginnings of formation of regional system (concepts, definitions, development of opinions, theories)
2. Regional economics, localization theories, localization factors
3. Factors and phenomena effecting formation of regional system, European regions in the 60´s -the 70´s of the 19th century, colonization of America
4. Economic characteristics of Austrian-Hungarian monarchy, prerequisites of formation of their regions
5. Economic development till World War I process of formation of regional system (on example of some European countries and United States)
6. Situation in regions during World War I - selected European regions, Austria-Hungary, Czech lands, decline of economic map (Europe, world)
7. Economic development of Czechoslovakia 1918-1929, Great Depression and its impact on state and development of regions in Czechoslovakia
8. Czechoslovakia after crisis 1934-1938, economic development in Czech lands and state of regions before and also in years 1938-1945, consequences of germanization
9. Economic (political, social) transformations in Czechoslovakia after World War II, foreign assistance (1945-1948)
10. Post-war renewal, construction and transformation of Czechoslovakia 1948 (1947) -1960, rise of central system of management and planning
11. Czechoslovakia after 1960, development of industrial regions the70´s -the 90´s of the 20th century
12. The Czech republic in the context of economic transformation of central and eastern Europe, integration efforts
