Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The aim of the course is to make the students familiar with the communication and intervention techniques of an intercultural communication, i.e. the communication with the members and groups of heterogeneous ethnic, racial and cultural communities and enable them to cope better with situations which the coexistence with people from different socio-cultural environment brings. The course describes the particularities of the intercultural communication and puts emphasis on comprehension of cultural differences of individual ethnic groups, races and cultures as a strategy of prevention of conflicts. The attention will be paid to a practical training of the communication and intervention strategies with individual groups, to reduction of errors which lead to misunderstanding, to principles and rules how to solve effectively an intercultural conflict. After passing the course, the students will be familiar with the issue of intercultural communication and will be able to use the suitable communication and intervention techniques.

  • 1. Intercultural communication, introduction, terms, definitions.
    2. Particularities of communication with Roma people, principles of communication.
    3. Particularities of communication with Vietnamese people, principles of communication.
    4. Particularities of communication with Slovak people, Polish people, principles of communication.
    5. Particularities of communication with Ukrainian people, Rusyn people, Russian people, principles of communication.
    6. Particularities of communication with Romanian people, principles of communication.
    7. Particularities of communication with Bulgarian people, Croatian people, principles of communication.
    8. Particularities of communication with Hungarian people, principles of communication.
    9. Particularities of communication with Greek people, principles of communication.
    10. Particularities of communication with other new national minorities.
    11. Solving of intercultural conflicts, rules and characterization of conflicts, their prevention, analysis and solving.
    12. Mediation, mediation techniques.
