Course objectives
The aim is to apply knowledge of quality management, personnel management, project management, financing of social services and of the NGO sector in the context of social work service organizations.During instruction, students are acquainted with the applicable procedures and managerial practices, methods, techniques and tools usable in the field of public administration, where they are demonstrated by examples of management practice.
Learning outcomes
Professional Knowledge
After completion of the course students understand the theoretical foundations of general management, the logic of managerial efforts and basic managerial techniques.In particular, they understand the principles of public sector management, difference in priorities in public and non-profit management.
Professional Skills
Having completed the course, students are able to successfully identify and diagnose common situations encountered by public administrative organizations which should be controlled managerially.They understand the causality of organizational processes and are well versed particularly in the issues of leadership and management of people, as well as in estimates of the organization’s needs of human potential development.
General Qualification
Acquisition of the managerial knowledge and skills is a prerequisite for the possibility that, in case of certain favourable personal qualities and motivation for management activities, learners will develop considerable potential for active mastering of managerial tasks.

Submission and defence of a seminar paper on a selected topic, half-time written test (successful completion at 60% or more correct answers).

Teacher's information
Instruction in person is conducted through a system of introductory consultations on selected topics.The part-time study material is accessible in an e-learning course environment at the e-portal http://elearning.fvp.slu.cz/, where various individual tutorials are conducted according to the subject matter overview and under the guidance of the instructor.This environment also provides students individual consultations of selected problematic units.Electronic study material with assignments is determined and prepared.
