- Course objectives
- The course forms the core competences of conceptual science expression of the students, their ability to work with professional literature and interpret it.
The course objective is to elaborate the introductory project of the bachelor’s thesis and its theoretical part. The course aims at applying the acquired knowledge and the developed skills in research methods and techniques to survey a specific problem, conceiving work, participating individually or in teams in analyzing and solving model situations related to the solution of the resulting piece of work. - Learning outcomes
- STUDY OUTCOMES:
Under the supervision of the thesis supervisor, students will show ability to:
work individually,
define the problem, analyse the examined topic appropriately, decide the aims of the thesis appropriately
work with literature and other information sources (search, sort and generalize information)
search and select the appropriate methods for solving the problems at hand,
proceed in accordance with the ethical principles of scientific / professional work.
prepare and manage a bachelor’s thesis project. - Syllabus
- The project of the thesis will include:
- description of the problem, which will be dealt with in the thesis
- goal and sub-goals students wish to achieve by their thesis
- professional literature research, proposed publications to form the theoretical core of the thesis
- outline of the thesis, planned division into chapters and sub-chapters
- objective of the practical part of the thesis
- research of implemented investigations and research in the field
- proposal for the chosen type of research, research methods, planned group of respondents, processing methods
- schedule of the entire preparation of the thesis.
- After approval of the project, the student will elaborate the theoretical part of the work, quoting current scientific literature, including at least one foreign source. The studied Czech and foreign professional literature will be gradually compiled and processed according to the proposed thesis outline. Any new sub-chapters will be consulted with their supervisor to justify their inclusion. Students will be active in searching for other sources, trying to work only with current professional literature, unless the nature of their thesis requires older resources.
- When processing the thesis, they will strive for stylistic and grammatical purity, respect the rules of authorial ethics, adhere to the rules for direct and indirect citations.
- At the end of the semester, the planned schedule for the creation of the thesis will be evaluated and any possible non-performance will be justified in writing. If the thesis supervisor accepts the reasons as relevant and the theoretical part processed meets the specified requirements, he or she will award the student credit. Students must update the schedule of next steps so that they can complete the thesis within the set deadline.

- The student is obliged to consult the assignment of the bachelor thesis and its processing with the assigned supervisor. As part of the credit, the student must upload a fully completed and validated bachelor thesis assignment to the SU IS system by 15 November of the relevant academic year. The assignment is approved by the supervisor of the thesis and the guarantor of the study programme (instructions on the assignment deadlines are given to students on the website of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies). The student is obliged to upload all materials for consultation to the submission room of the course in IS (always to the submission room of his/her thesis supervisor) continuously during the semester.
