- The course is conceived as a theoretical-practical one. The goal of the course is to introduce students to the basic principles of imaging methods in medicine. The subject matter discussed includes medical imaging systems based on the principle of passage of ionizing radiation though the tissue (RTG, CT, scintigraphy, RVG, CBCT), imaging using the phenomenon of magnetic resonance (MRI), acoustic properties (USG) and the decay of radionuclides in tissues (PET, SPECT). Special emphasis will be placed on dental radiology (generation of X-rays, construction and functions of dental X-ray tube, dental X-ray devices, image formation and processing, extra-oral and intra-oral imaging techniques, X-ray anatomy). An integral part of the course is the ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principle and the legislation (Act No. 263/2016 Sb.; Sec 63 of Act No. 422/2016 Sb., Sec 40 Subsec 1 letter c) taking X-ray images, § 21 of Decree No. 409/2016 Sb., use of dental X-ray devices and requirements for registration of this activity).
- Výstupy z učení
- Professional Knowledge: Students will acquire basic knowledge of physical principles of medical imaging systems and imaging methods. They will gain an overview of the use of imaging methods in clinical practice, especially in dentistry. Professional Skills: Students can identify typical image outputs obtained by various medical imaging systems. They can apply intra-oral and extra-oral imaging techniques, correctly describe and interpret X-ray images (OPG, intra-oral techniques). They can apply the principles of radiation protection and implement them in dental practice. General Qualification (Competence): Students are competent not only in the field of preventive activities based on the identification of risk factors from X-rays images but also in the field of radiovisiography. They can indicate a suitable imaging method for a given anatomical locality. They can work in the controlled areas of radiological workplace.
