Course objectives
The subject is an introduction to the study of administrative law and administrative science with a focus on institutes that can be applied in the field of social services. Administrative law is presented as a dynamic field of law with decentralized legal regulation. For its understanding and subsequent theoretical and practical work, it is necessary to understand its basic concepts and principles and correctly identify and interpret its sources. The alumni will gain an overview of the relationship of administrative law to other legal fields, its structure and basic principles. The narration is based on the legal-historical and legal-theoretical starting points of the creation of contemporary correct-legal regulation and goes from the theoretical foundations to the explanation and application of the key institutes of administrative law. The student becomes familiar with the principles of the procedure of administrative bodies and the principles of their activity within the framework of administrative proceedings. A special chapter is also devoted to administrative justice as a control of the performance of public administration by the judiciary. Individual conclusions are presented using examples of recent jurisprudence in the subject area.
Learning outcomes
The student will take away from the course knowledge of the structure of Czech administrative law and its individual institutes, as well as the ability to use these institutes in a qualified manner when contacting public administration bodies or when working professionally within these bodies.

Assessment methods
To successfully complete the subject, it is necessary to obtain at least 80 out of 100 possible qualification points, which are assigned to the student based on: a) the result of the written exam (or oral exam in an alternate term), for which up to 100 qualification points can be obtained; b) elaboration of a seminar paper in the scope of up to 5 norm pages, for which it is possible to obtain up to 10 qualification points; c) preparation of a presentation on a selected or designated related topic offering a deeper insight into the issue, for which up to 10 qualification points can be obtained.
