Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to present Internet services and development basic principles of static and dynamic WWW pages.
Syllabus
  • 1. Internet services. Network communication, protocols, basic commands (ipconfig, tracert, ping, arp). File transfer services. Remote control. Communication services. Services for transfer and publication of hypertext (www)
    2. Internet. Domains. Administration of domains. IANA. Generic domains. NIC. Physical infrastructure. Addressing.
    3. TCP/IP protocol. Application protocols. Internet services related to application protocols.
    4. FTP server. FTP client. Telnet. Security risks.
    5. Security on the Internet. Packet capture. Encryption. Security policy.
    6. WebMastering. Domain administration. Domain registration. Webhosting. Web technologies
    7. Hypertext markup language HTML, XML a XHTML. HTML, XML a XHTML editors. Structure of HTML and XHTML documents. Basic marks, tags, attributes, elements.
    8. Aspects of effective and ergonomic design of www presentations. Selecting basic structure of www presentation. Suitable design and positioning of navigation elements. Accessibility. Search engine optimisation. Multimedia objects in www presentations.
    9. CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). Syntax. Formatting web pages by CSS with compliance to W3C specification. Text structure. Styles. Classes. Rules. Selectors. Declaration block. CSS identifiers.
    10. Web server. Web publication on the web server, administration and configuration of local servers Apache and Xitami.
    11. Dynamic web presentations. Script language JavaScript.
    12. CMS (Content Management System). Joomla, WordPress, and others. Online editors. Web pages generation. Portals for web development and publication. WYSIWYG editors.
    13. Overview of other technologies for web development. Effective and ergonomic design of web pages. Comparison of the effectiveness of web page publication by on-line services, real application.
