- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to create, model and scale a business model according to specific market conditions on the basis of interviews, discussions with invited guests from successful startups and acquired theoretical knowledge in the field of business model design.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- identify the basic elements of the business model;
- analyze the company environment and design a business model;
- apply the knowledge of case studies to their own business modeling;
- use creative techniques to generate ideas, desing a minimal product and verify it with customers;
- optimize and adapt the business model to market conditions;
- identify suitable startup financing alternatives;
- orientation in business support and scalability;
- optimize product, business model and team. - Syllabus
- 1. Introduction to startups Definition of the startup terminology. Commercial start-up support systems. Support for entrepreneurs from public funds at the municipal, regional and state levels. Accelerators, incubators, innovation and coworking centers. The role of mentors, consultants and investors in the development of a startup.
- 2. Ideace and creation of a business model Ways to use ideas generation techniques. Creating a problem-solution chain and subsequently harmonization in the product-market relationship.
- 3. Validation and minimum product (MVP) Transformation of ideas into testable hypotheses. The importance of rapid prototyping and the creation of a minimum viable product. The role of feedback from the first customers and the implementation of changes. Crowdfunding and crowdsoucing.
- 4. Optimization of product, business model and team Product characteristics beyond the prototype phase. Iterative processes of improvement. Finding ways to use modern methods of creating a business model by expanding the use of services, the Internet and technology. Search and onboarding of key employees.
- 5. Scalability of business Basic principles of business scalability. Accelerators, scale-up programs and state and region support infrastructure. Dangers and pitfalls of rapid growth of a young company.
- 6. Financing growth Characteristics of the role of the investor. Competence to present the investment opportunity to help the presented product in the form of a pitch. Terms of the agreement and legal aspects of the investor's entry. Business sale and exit strategy.
