The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives (in Czech)
The aim of the course is to present basics of computer hardware, using computers under Windows XP and Vista operating systems, exploitation of faculty computer network and MS Office tools - MS Word, MS Power Point and FrontPage, to present alternative tools to MS Office and make students acquainted with basics of algorithms using macro-commands of MS Word.
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • 1. Information, informatics, history of informatics
    2. Network services of Faculty, Internet services, information sources.
    3. Hardware and software components of personal computers.
    4. Windows XP and Vista operating systems.
    5. MS Word 2003 and alternative text editors.
    6. Using of MS Word
    7. Presentation software based on example of MS Power Point.
    8. Conversion of documents and presentations into web pages, editing of web pages using FrontPage.
    9. Data structures and algorithmization, creation of modules and macro-commands.
    10. Alternatives to MS Word.
    1. Information concept. Basic principles of information creation, storage and exchange using computer technology. Short history of informatics development. Faculty network SLUNET, network user, using the network, network services, Internet (mail, www etc.)
    2. WINDOWS XP environment, applications in WINDOWS XP, Explorer, Control panels.
    3. Hardware components of a computer, keyboard, external storage, operating systems.
    Basics differences between Vista and Windows XP.
    4. General characteristics of text editors, MS Word - document structure, working with documents, paragraphs, styles, editing and correction tools.
    5. MS Word -working with objects, formatting, using windows, printing. Graphical objects, tables, special properties of documents.
    6. MS Word - Mailings, forms, schemes.
    7. MS Word - documents merging, communication among programs, applications and user environments.
    8. Algorithmization. - Automation of work with document.
    9. Algorithmization - Types and using of variables, input and output means in algorithms.
    10. Algorithmization - cycles, conditions, procedures and functions.
    11. Creation of presentations - basics. Using MS Power Point conversion of presentations into web pages.
    12. MS FrontPage basics, principles of web page editing.
    13. Alternative tools to MS Office
