Course objectives
The course acquaints students with the basic concepts, design and architecture of management information systems and decision support systems, new approaches to decision support by information and communication technologies and designing, modelling and development of management information systems in relation with decision making, methods of management and development of information society and globalization. Great emphasis is put on the presentation of modern tools of computer science, such as business intelligence, data mining, etc., and their use in management of business, manufacturing, marketing, logistics and non-profit organizations.

    3. IS / IT as a tool for company competitiveness
    4. Information systems (IS) - architecture
    5. Role of IS in company - TQM, process management, Just In Time, controlling, outsourcing
    6. History and definition of Management Information Systems (MIS) (and Decision Support Systems)
    7. Relationship of MIS, enterprise (organization) and environment
    8. Classification of MIS according to the time horizon and the functional and structural dimensions
    9. Functional and enabling subsystems MIS (HW, SW, telecommunications, data and databases, administration, legislation, personnel, etc.)
    10. Methods, tools and approaches of IS and MIS designing and modelling
    11. Business Intelligence in MIS
    12. Expert and knowledge-based systems as decision support tools
