Course objectives
The course encourages students to recognize the social importance of quality, makes students familiar with quality indicators, the structure of the current quality management in the Czech Republic, with regard to developmental trends and requirements arising from the cooperation with EU countries. The findings are enhanced by modern principles of quality assurance in developed countries (Japan, USA, and Western Europe) to give students a general guidance in the quality issues. Knowledge of international quality standards and their application gives students the necessary orientation in the requirements applicable under the market economy and the free movement of goods within the EU. Students are also strongly encouraged to strict monitoring and quality control and thus creating the basis for improving the quality of products, services and relationships in the societal dimension.

    3. Promoting quality policy in Europe.
    4. National Quality Policy.
    5. European and National Quality Award.
    6. Knowledge management in a quality system.
    7. A system of accreditation, testing and certification. Systems ISO standards.
    8. Human resource management in a quality system.
    9. Standards of quality and food safety.
    10. TQM. The philosophy and essence of TQM, benefits and barriers to the implementation of TQM.
    11. Methods of improving quality. Benchmarking.
    12. Selected methods and techniques of risk prevention, quality improvement and optimization of quality management.
    13. Economy quality, ethical foundations of quality.
