Course objectives
Within the framework of classical mechanics and field theory, these lectures focus on the gauge-invariant systems and the associated BRST-transformations.
Syllabus
  • Hamiltonian systems with constraints, geometry of the constraint submanifolds, gauge invariance of the action, generally covariant systems, first-class constraints, fermionic degrees of freedom, constraints with the fermionic degrees of freedom, graded differential algebras, the algebraic structure of the BRST symmetry, the BRST construction for the reducible and irreducible case, the dynamics of ghosts - the actions with the choice of gauge, the BRST transformation in field theory.
