Course Requirements To qualify for the final exam, students must fulfill all course requirements, including assessments, assignments, and active participation in course activities. Seminars (Prerequisites for the Final Exam) Attendance Minimum attendance: 80%. Verbal Part: Poem Students must recite a "Crazy pronunciation poem" by heart. Refer to the instructions as well as a link to the text and an online recording of the poem (see course materials for POEM) The poem can be assessed at any time during the semester for volunteers, but no later than after completed Topic 11: Intonation (refer to the study guide). ZERO MISTAKES WILL BE TOLERATED. Each student has a maximum of two attempts to complete this activity — an initial attempt and one resit, if needed. Students who have not yet attempted the activity will always be given priority over those taking the resit. The activity must be completed during the semester, as part of regular seminar sessions, and before the examination period begins. Written Part: Transcription Students will transcribe a section of The Three Little Pigs (approximately 350 words). A maximum of 20 mistakes is allowed. The transcription test will take place after Topic 11 has been covered, and as part of regular seminar sessions, before the examination period begins. No later performance is allowed. Tip for Preparing for the Final Transcription: Homework transcriptions must be handwritten, not typed, to effectively prepare for the final transcription assessment. Exam Test Eligibility Successful completion of all seminar requirements is mandatory to sit for the final exam. Seminar requirements include: Minimum 80% attendance. Poem recitation with zero mistakes. Transcription with a maximum of 20 mistakes. Format and Content The final exam is a written test. It will focus on the theoretical part of the course, as outlined in the required reading (P. Roach). A minimum score of 70% is required to pass.
