Dear students,

I would like to invite you to the study of Human Resources Management (HRM). The content of the course is in sylabus. We will talk about importance of HRM for company business, about potentional of HR in company future, about huge impact of HRM decisions for other processes. We will discuss different approaches to solve the problems and cultural context of decisionmaking. All the conditions of fulfillment are published in IS. Come and discuss together.

Objectives of the course

The aim is to introduce students to the importance of human resource management and their role in the company. 

  • To emphasize the new role of HRM in the world. 
  • To emphasize the systematic interpretation and practice of the basic HRM program in our companies and organizations. 
  • To achieve mastery of the basic methods and procedures applied in HRM in enterprises and institutions with emphasis on moral aspects and cooperative partnership between employee and employer.
  • To discuss the important role of AI and digitilization in the processes of HRM.


Conditions and evaluation

60% attendance at seminars is required.

Course evaluation 100 points maximum

-60 pts – final test
-30 pts – video (20 pts inserting video to storage, 10 pts its presentation).
-10 ptsactive participation in seminars (5 seminars with 2 pts activity)

2.Video should recap the content of previous lesson.
3.At the beggining of the next lesson you will present it and shortly comment it
4.The last lecture will present all the videos and recapitulate the findings from HRM.

Syllabus

1. The evolution of the HR function
Key concepts: personnel management, human resource management and the human resource function and social constructionism. Explanation the role of line and departmental managers, the HR department and organizational performance.
2. A strategic perspective: managing people at work
Organizational behaviour: behaviour theory, organizational culture, climate and process. Work, organization and job design. The strategic HRM approach to resourcing. The components of strategic employee resourcing. Employer branding. The role of social media and social networking sites.
3. Talent management
Key concepts: talent, talent management, career and succession management. Formal and informal processes. Formal attempts aimed at identifying, developing, and using people who have been designated as talented. Management succession planning. Talent management strategy.
4. Human resource management processes
Key concepts: learning, training, coaching, mentoring and human resource development: the planning process, measurement and metrics. Learning and development strategies. Managing performance and rewards. Types of motivation and motivation strategies. The employment relationship.
5. International human resource management
Key concepts: national culture, global organization, global production, multinational companies. Expatriate worker and culture shock. Understanding the concept of a global organization, global employment, global HR policy and practice. International management competences the HR department and the international scene. Explanation the implications for the human resources function.
6. International recruitment and selection
Key concepts: hiring or employing, internal and external recruitment, assessment and selection. Defining and managing the international processes involved in recruitment and selection. Understanding the relationship between recruitment and selection and other HR activities. An economic and financial perspective on recruitment and selection. Workforce planning. Role of the international HR function.
7. Human resource management: ethics, leadership and skills
Key concepts: fairness at work, ethical dilemmas, moral principles and leadership illusion. Perspectives on workplace ethical dilemmas: understanding different ethical prisms and conflicts. Strategic HRM skills, business and problem-solving skills. Managing conflict. Political skills: dangers of politics and dealing with organizational politics.
