Passing the LLL plan

The aim of the course is to develop the fundamental pedagogical didactic competencies of early-career academic staff and doctoral students requiredfor the planning, delivery and evaluation of effective higher education teaching.

Early-career academic staff and doctoral students

After completing the course participants will be able to define learning objectives and prepare a learning plan for a selected subject. They will beable to locate time effectively, structure the learning cycle, and distinguish the analytical, presentation, consolidation, and verification phases of the teaching process. They will select and demonstrate suitable methods that support active student engagement, especially methods for consolidating learning. They will also be able to demonstrate and verify the learning effect achieved by students and use feedback to reflect on and improve their teaching.

The course is intended primarily for early-career academic staff and students at the beginning of their doctoral studies at the Silesian University.

The course combines theoretical self-study, practical assignments, and threeface-to-face sessions. It is organized into four modules, each module comprises three 90 - minute teaching blocks. The modules progressively cover the definition of learning objectives, the planning of time and learning-cycle phases, the basic structure and theory of the learning cycle, and work with the analytical, presentation, consolidation, a verification phases of teaching. The final sessions is devoted to participant's teaching demonstrations and joint feedback.

Successful completion of the course requires active participation in all threeface-to-face sessions, completion of the assigned self-study tasks, and final practical demonstration. Participant will prepare a teaching plan for a selected subject that applies the phases of the learning cycle, and will demonstrate selected methods, especially those supporting the consolidation of learning, and verification of the learning effect. Participant,who meet all requirements will be awarded a micro-certificate.
