LLL plan description
- Presentation of the LLL plan (learning objectives)The course is designed to provide participants with practical knowledge and skills in Business Continuity Management (BCM), focusing on ensuring business continuity and organizational resilience. Participants will learn how to identify critical business processes and their dependencies, conduct a Business Impact Analysis (BIA), define recovery priorities (RTO/RPO), assess risks, and design measures to support business continuity. The course also covers cybersecurity incident scenarios, including ransomware attacks, account compromise, and cloud service outages, from a managerial perspective. As a final outcome, participants will develop a BCM mini-plan and complete a tabletop exercise focused on decision-making, crisis communication, and business recovery following an incident.
- Target groupStudents of the School of Business Administration in Karviná (SBA) and other faculties, lifelong learning participants, business owners, managers, operations managers, project managers, HR professionals, public administration employees, and representatives of non-profit organizations.
- Learning OutcomesUpon completion of the course, participants will be able to explain Business Continuity as a business risk and its importance for organizational management. They will be able to identify critical business processes and their dependencies, conduct a basic Business Impact Analysis (BIA), define recovery priorities (RTO/RPO), assess operational and cybersecurity risks, and propose appropriate measures to ensure business continuity. Graduates will be able to prepare a Business Continuity Management (BCM) mini-plan, establish crisis roles and a decision-making framework, successfully complete a tabletop exercise, and evaluate lessons learned.
- Occupational Profiles of GraduatesGraduates will acquire practical competencies applicable to business continuity management in both public and private organizations. The acquired knowledge will enhance their employability, particularly in positions such as managers, project managers, risk managers, business continuity specialists, crisis management professionals, public administration employees, and consultants in risk and business continuity management. Graduates will be able to contribute to improving organizational resilience against operational disruptions and cybersecurity incidents.
- Admission conditionsAdmission requirements: A student of the Silesian University in Opava, payment of the fee, and for external applicants, a minimum of secondary education with a school-leaving exam.
- Course of educationThe course consists of six modules covering Business Continuity Management, Business Impact Analysis (BIA), disruption scenarios and risks, continuity measures, incident response and recovery, and supplier management. It includes study blocks, workshops, independent work on a BCM mini-plan, a case study, a tabletop exercise, and a final test.
- Conditions of graduation
Assessment is based on the total score achieved across three components. The online test (30–40 questions, time limit, randomized) accounts for 30% of the overall assessment, with a minimum passing score of 70%. The practical project (Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and BCM mini-plan) accounts for 50% of the overall assessment, with a minimum passing score of 60% (15 out of 25 points). The tabletop exercise and a short report account for the remaining 20% of the assessment; submission of the report and active participation are required.
The final assessment is classified into three achievement levels according to the overall score achieved: Junior (60–74%) – the participant has met the basic requirements; however, the submitted output lacks deeper analysis or feasibility. Medior (75–89%) – the participant has developed a solid plan, the logic of the Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and the proposed measures is convincing, and the output is suitable for presentation to management. Senior (90–100%) – the participant has produced a comprehensive and immediately applicable output that consistently integrates the Business Impact Analysis (BIA), identified risks, proposed measures, and cost–benefit analysis.
