Course objectives
The course enables students to get acquainted with practical applications of numerical methods in natural sciences. It focuses on solving specific tasks from the areas listed below. Individual tasks are determined in accordance with the thematic focus of diploma / seminar theses of students in relation to real problems processed by the workplace in the field of natural sciences.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to:
- analyze simple tasks in the field of natural sciences
- describe these problems by mathematical apparatus
- solve these tasks

  • 1. Derivation and integration in numerical problems
  • 2. Linear and nonlinear equations, finding roots
  • 3. Functions and their courses, extremes, minimization and maximization
  • 4. Data interpolation and extrapolation
  • 5. Data modeling, least squares method and other regression methods, linear and nonlinear functions
  • 6. Statistical description of data, distribution function
  • 7. Differential equations
