- Course objectives
- Students gain knowledge in the application of the system approach in the management of cultural institutions and gain basic knowledge in marketing of museums and application of management techniques in museum practice.
- Syllabus
- 1. Key principles of philosophical, theoretical and conceptual approaches to the management of cultural heritage.
2. The history of heritage management in different geographical contexts.
3. International conventions, laws (on different levels of government).
4. Organizations and bodies involved in the management of heritage and their interaction.
5. Basic knowledge, approaches and methods used for the interpretation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage resources.
6. Strategic planning in the field of cultural heritage preservation.
7. Using a variety of interpretive media in the interpretation of cultural heritage, posters, live interpretation and internet resources.
8. The relationship between heritage and tourism.
9. Opportunities and threats posed by tourism to cultural heritage. Negative effects of tourism on heritage. The requirements of local, national , and international tourism and questions and solutions by various means.
10. Typology of tourism strategies in relation to the cultural heritage of UNESCO. Dependence on the protection of heritage tourism income protection programs and formal education.
11. Key issues relating to practice and heritage management processes. Challenges and opportunities faced by managers of cultural heritage and the differences between the management of resources in urban and rural contexts.
12. Involving communities in the planning of cultural heritage management. Role ecomuseum in the protection of cultural heritage. Role of risks, monitoring and evaluation in the field of heritage.
