Course objectives
The course acquaints students with advanced topics in the field of operating systems, especially Windows and Linux. The topics in the area of process management, services, users and security management are discussed.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to:
- manage processes and services in Windows and UNIX operating systems.
- provide advanced configuration of access and security.
- manage devices and networks in both UNIX and Windows operating systems.
- address issues related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of operating systems.
Syllabus
  • 1. Managing Windows in text mode, scripts, flow control commands, PowerShell.
  • 2. Objects in Windows. Access control and user management in Windows, policies, templates.
  • 3. Process and service management in Windows, WBEM.
  • 4. Device and network management.
  • 5. Deployment of Windows - installation, update, software management.
  • 6. Managing UNIX systems in text mode, scripts, flow control commands.
  • 7. Process and task management in UNIX systems.
  • 8. Access control and user management.
  • 9. Device and network management in UNIX systems.
  • 10. Deployment of UNIX systems - initialization systems and services, logging, security.
