Seminář se zabývá historickým vývojem metod ve výuce cizích jazyků, jejich přednostmi a nedostatky a se současným stavem v této oblasti. Studenti se seznámí s plánováním výuky, různými organizačními formami při výuce cizích jazyků, s hodnocením pokroku a chyb při výuce. Naučí se, jak zprostředkovat žákům různými postupy jednotlivé jazykové dovednosti v rámci komunikační kompetence, včetně dostatečné úrovně gramatiky, fonetiky, slovní zásoby a pravopisu. Nedílnou součástí moderní metody výuky jazyků je práce s učebnicemi a texty a výuka reálií cílové země.
