Course objectives
The course introduces basic areas of everyday life of the medieval and early modern societies in the context of their basic stratification (aristocratic, urban/burgher, rural society, specific groups), penetration of the public/private and profane/religious components of life: life cycle, family and household (husband, wife, child, others), work, education, religiousness, leisure, festivities and rituals, housing, catering, clothing, health care and hygiene, travelling, etc. The subject draws the attention to the perception of the issue from the point of view of cultural history, history of material culture and everyday life, social history, history of mentality taking the methods of historical anthropology, micro-history and others into account. The seminars will be aimed mainly at deepening/improving the orientation in the given issue via introducing the most recent literature and current research topics in the frames of interactive discussion, students? involvement in partial topics processing (heuristics, data analysis), etc.
