- Course objectives
- Interpretation of selected literary terms and concepts. Fundamentals of literary aesthetics. Confirmating and deepening of individual topics through joint reading and interpretation of theoretical texts.
- Syllabus
- Literature the concept and its history; theory of the literary field (Bourdieu). Contexts and conditions for the origin of modern literature modern subjectivity, shaping democracy, freedom of speech, the nation-state, modern university etc.). Specificity of literature non-transcendent use of words (Sartre); definitions of literariness; literary conventions; aesthetic function, aesthehtical value. Aesthetics of the production - historical models of authorship; authors inside and outside the text (real, implicit). Aesthetics of the literary text mimesis, reference, fictionality, fictional worlds, structure, artifact, an aesthetic object. Aesthetics of the reception Reading, reception, interpretation; empirical and implicit reader. Interpretation theory: objectivity and subjectivity of the interpretation; hermeneutical circle; semantic gesture; overinterpretation and underinterpretation; interpretive community.
