Course objectives
Students will acquire basic knowledge about spatial information systems (geographic information systems - GIS). They will familiarize themselves with the structure, functions and utilization of GIS, basics of cartography, spatial databases, etc. Attention is also paid to the familiarization with the main commercial and open source SW products that are used for the creation of territorial information systems. Seminars to the subject are focused on the dissemination of knowledge about GIS, on their use in practice and on the basis of working with specific geographic IS (GRASS, QGIS).

    2. Basics of Cartography.
    3. GIS data models.
    4. Acquisition and processing of input data.
    5. Geographic IS and GIS database.
    6. Maps and map outputs of GIS.
    7. Analysis of geographic data.
    8. Navigation systems.
    9. Implementation and use of GIS in organizations.
