Course objectives
The student will obtain an overview of the development and current state of book culture. The course also introduces students to the issue of bibliophily and bookplate. A special part of the lecture series is devoted to the basics of preventive care and protection of library collections.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- orientate in the history of book culture in the Czech lands and Western Europe;
- describe the current state of book culture in the Czech lands and Western Europe;
- orientate oneself in selected special areas of book culture (eg bibliophilia, bookplate, bookbinding);
- apply in practice information from the field of preventive care and protection of library collections.
