- Course objectives
- The course is the first one from the basic physics courses. Goals are to introduce the mathematical apparatus of the classical physics and the basic laws of mechanics and thermal physics, and the physical reasoning and physical problem solving in general.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will be experienced in using of the mathematical apparatus of the classical physics, and they will be familiar with the basic laws of mechanics and thermal physics.
- Syllabus
- • Introduction to physics • Kinematics of mass point • Dynamics of mass point • Gravitational field • Oscillation • Mechanics of solids • Mechanics of liquids • Thermodynamics • Kinetic theory of gases • Thermodynamics of ideal gas
- Literature
- Teaching methods
- Lectures, discussions, problem solving.
- Assessment methods
- Within the semester, students are evaluated on the basis of two written tests and on the basis of their activity. The exam consists of three parts. In the first part, students solve two problems. In the second one, students introduce and comment basic laws, while in the third part, they discuss and derive basic relations.
