- Course objectives
- The main aim of the course is to present the most important phases and problems of Czech-German relations and with regard to wider central European context. The formation of Czech-German relation is traced in modern period, especially the influence of liberalism and nationalism in the 19th century in life of both national togetherness, position of German minority and national policy of Czechoslovak state in inter-war period, conflict complication and tragic climax of coexistence from the end of the 30´s till the end of the 40´s of the 20th century. The centre of content focus will lay in explanation of transformations of Czech-German relation in post-war period till present day, regarding both situation of German minority and the character of relations on inter-state level.

- 1. Germans in Czech lands from High Middle Ages till the end of the 18th century
2. Prerequisites of forming of modern national societies (Czech and Germans in the first half of the 19th century)
3. In the name of liberalism, nationalism and modernisation (Czech and Germans from revolution 1848 till World War I)
4. Czech lands and Germany before 1918
5. Germans as minority in Czechoslovak state: possibilities and perspectives of co-existence (1918-1929)
6. Maturation of conflicts and way to Munich (1930-1938)
7. Czech and Germans in the period of war and occupation (1939-1945)
8. Genesis and pushing through a plan regarding post-war displace of Germans in Czechoslovakia
9. Expel and forced displace of German inhabitants in 1945-1948
10. Situation of individual groups of German inhabitants in post-war period
11. German minority in Czech lands in 1948-1989 and in present
12. Relations of Czechoslovakia (the Czech republic) with FRG, GDR and united Germany, peculiarities of development phase (1948-1949 till present)

- Seminar paper devoted to important event or personality from history of Czech-German relations. Oral exam with questions focused on topic of this paper and on knowledge of general context of given issue.
