- Course objectives
- The integration of a new professional into a helping profession is a process which is systematically developed from pregradual professional preparation and therefore the educational process - school and clinical practical training for future nurses - plays a key role in it. Within the process, the emotional level of professional development has not been sufficiently addressed yet; systematic work with attitudes, ethical dilemmas and personal experience has not been implemented in the study curriculum; and so called "useful experience portfolio" has not been created purposefully. The module of Psychosocial Supportive System for Nurses is aimed at filling up this part of the "zero curriculum" and at teaching future nurses to work with reflection and self-reflection, with critical thinking and creativity, to integrate themselves in the profession and to start an appropriate way of life to prevent the burn-out syndrome and to support the lifelong anchoring of the nurse in the profession. Nursing works with the following supportive systems: mentoring, preceptoring (in the Czech Republic, it is so called "adaptation process"), supervision, coaching, mediation, etc. The module includes specific supportive systems (mentoring, preceptoring and supervision - reflected practice), which the graduates from school must be acquainted with as they will come across them immediately after starting their careers, either as their subjects or objects. The module runs across the whole studies and it is based on experiential learning and active participation. The outcomes do not consist in academic knowledge but in experiences, recognizing of possible ways of solutions, personal mental hygiene and better understanding of both the client's and the student's own emotions.
