Course objectives
The course provides the students with practical advice and theoretical information on the procedure of assignment, elaboration, submission and defence of the final Bachelor thesis. The students can consult the topic selection, the delimitation of the research issue, the selected research methods, processing of the acquired data, result evaluation, etc. The course builds on active students' consulting.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to the issue - significance of Bachelor thesis in relation to outcome competences of the studies of the discipline of General Nurse, topics of Bachelor theses.
    2. Work with professional literature, bibliographic citations, bibliographic research, EBP and bibliographic databases.
    3. Contents structure of the Bachelor thesis: topic selection, formulation of thesis name, processing stages, Bachelor thesis structure, annotation, main passage, methodology, experience, discussion and conclusion.
    4. Student's cooperation with the Bachelor thesis supervisor.
    5. Formal layout of the Bachelor thesis: text segmentation, numbering of individual sections and subsections, graphic parts of the thesis, creation of frequency tables, diagrams, citation of figures, annexes, abbreviations used, etc.
    6. Preparation of defence of Bachelor thesis.
    The students choose the thesis supervisor either based on the selected topic or based on the topics announced by the teachers. If the student decides to use research investigation in the practical part of the thesis, the student will approach the Centre of Empirical Research of the faculty to get advice on adequate selection of methods, way of evaluation and interpretation.

Teacher's information
80 % active attendance at seminars. To get the credit, the students submit the completed report of assignment of the Bachelor thesis signed by the thesis supervisor and by the head of the institute, to demonstrate that the respective thesis topic has been approved and that further work on the student's project can follow.
