Course objectives
Multicultural education is a prerequisite of modern education aimed at orientation in a multicultural society. In interpretation of the issue of multicultural education, the subject integrates the knowledge of biological, social and cultural anthropology, philosophical anthropology, philosophy of education, sociology of education, general and comparative pedagogy, social pedagogy, social and educational psychology, general and school didactics and other disciplines to which the issue of multiculturalism and multicultural education is more or less related. In the background of increasing cultural diversity various concepts and theories of multiculturalism are presented, as reported by various authors, their relevance, their impact on society and everyday life of individuals are considered. Firstly, we will focus on a detailed and critical analysis of the multicultural education concept. Secondly, we will deal with a possible research issues related to cultural, ethnic and social diversity (not only) in the school environment. The course prepares students to handle work with scientific articles and provides orientation in methodology strategies in science and research, including ethical issues.   • 1. Multiculturalism in principal and related terms. Theoretical basis of concept of multiculturalism.
    2. History of concept of multicultural society. Various approaches to multiculturalism.
    3. Multicultural education in theory: Past and Present.
    4. What is science? What is distinguishing science and research from other human actions.
    5. Real making of scientific text. Citation and citation standard.
    6. Group discussion and analysis of case reports on "Tolerance of diversity".
    7. Research issues related to cultural diversity.
    8. Research issues related to ethnic diversity.
    9. Research issues related to social diversity.
    10. Determinants of xenophobia and racism, or how to effectively combat xenophobia and racism.
    11. Anthropology of "races", ethnical and national minorities. National and ethnical situation in the Czech Republic.
    12. Ethical questions in science. Multiculturalism as an ethical problem.
