Course objectives
The aim is to verify the theoretical knowledge and practical skills in teaching, social laws and social practices. Practical activities will be implemented in wards for the elderly and people with disabilities, departments and social protection of children, social service facilities with a focus on family and children, in the facilities for the handicapped and other facilities of social services (health, education, social care, etc.). In practice, the student should be able to verify the particular applicability of theoretical knowledge in specific social situations to learn about the social actions and services implemented by the device, a critical look at the effectiveness of these measures and services, and, if necessary. try to design alternative ways to address the issue. The student should understand the objectives, the methods that work when working with a client uses to reflect their position in the organization, develop communication skills, receive and interpret information, etc. The student will be able to navigate the organizational structure and operation of the facility and seek sources of cooperation in the wider area of professional practice, to identify client needs and apply knowledge of relevant legislation and theoretical knowledge. The practice is focused on initial acquaintance with a particular issue, which is typical for this type of facility, the performance of individual work with clients under the guidance of a member of staff. This coaching is a key moment in transfering practical experience , while fulfilling a support function. Professional Practice III is implemented by an individual, consistent placement ( 8 hours / 1 day, 4 weeks, 160 hours) in selected resort facilities of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Justice.
Syllabus
  • The structure of the implementation of practice:Clarifying the position of the student in the course of practice.
    Defining the mission and goals of the workplace, the target group of clients. Identification of the founder of the facility. Inclusion in the network of social services.
    Introduction to organizational and personnel structure of the facility. Job descriptions of staff, identification of possible work in a team, the possibility of supervision (external, internal).
    Introduction to labor legislation and regulations governing staff in the organization.
    Defining client problems typology of the facility.
    Method of data management for clients, protection of the individual client against possible misuse of personal data and other information.
    Methods and approaches used with clients in the workplace. Students are observed working with a client in the workplace.
    Active observation of work with clients in their natural environment.
    Individual work with clients under the expert guidance of staff.
    Independently directed activity with professional training under the supervision of a specialist.
    Overall assessment of the practice in terms of utilization of theoretical knowledge and its application in practice, theoretical definition of any innovation.
