Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide the students of study field Social policy and public administration with principles of societal ceremony as a set of general rules of social contact and with issue of international contacts and relations. The course comprises also presentation of norms, habits and approaches used in social contacts and in lateral and multilateral international contacts and in international cooperation, especially with regard to standards and practice used in European union. The part of the course is dedicated to diplomatic procedure as a set of rules and practice of cultivated contact between states, based on international law and on habits of diplomatic practice. The course includes also presentation of rules of societal ceremony (etiquette) and issue of creation of social relations with regard to cultural peculiarities and intercultural aspects of international cooperation, personalities of interacting and dynamics of international work meetings.

  • 1. Social contact and ceremony - concept, role, importance
    2. Concept of international contacts and relations
    3. Current issues of international contacts and relations
    4. Diplomacy, its role and concept. The character of diplomatic activity and requirements on diplomats. The importance of diplomacy for "para-diplomacy" of public-administrative organizations and institutions.
    5. Diplomatic procedure, law frame of diplomacy, principles of diplomatic acts and diplomatic practice
    6. The rules of social contact on international level
    7. Organization and management of work meetings
    8. Management of demanding situations in international discussions
    9. Cultural conditions of bilateral and multilateral cooperation
    10. Important areas of social contact and practical assertion of social ceremony
