- Course objectives
- The course aims to provide students with basic terminology of anatomical structures and structures of organ systems in human body. Knowledge of anatomy is followed by physiology, pathological physiology, pathological anatomy and other clinical disciplines. The course is a basic component of the system of compulsory courses.
- Syllabus
- Lectures:
1. Basic structure of the human body. Structure of the cell and its differentiation. Types of tissues and their basic histological characteristics.
2. Musculoskeletal system 1. Osteology and arthrology: Skeleton and articulation of limbs. Cranium, temporomandibular joint. Anatomy of the thorax and vertebral column. Topography of lumbal puncture.
3. Musculoskeletal system 2. Myology: Overview of muscle groups, their function and motoric innervation. Topography of intramuscular injections.
4. Cardiovascular system 1. Systemic and pulmonary blood circulation, blood. Heart - basic structure, coronal arteries, valves and their auscultatorylocations. Pericardial puncture.
5. Cardiovascular system 2. Overview of arteries and veins of the head, trunk and limbs. Palpation sites and pressure points. Arterial and venous bleeding. Lymphatic system, spleen. Most important regional lymphatic nodes. Immunity of human organism.
6. Respiratory system. Upper and lower respiratory tract. Lungs and pleura. Mediastinum.
7. Digestive system 1. Oral cavity, large salivary glands. Structure and function of the gastrointestinal tract. Pharynx, oesophagus, stomach, small and large intestine, appendix. Anatomical base of hernias.
8. Digestive system 2. Liver, biliary tract and bile, pancreas. Digestive enzymes, insulin. Developmental irregularities of the digestive tract. Overview of endocrine glands.
9. Urinary system. Kidneys, structure and function. Urinary ducts: ureters, urinary bladder, female and male urethra.
10. Female reproductive system. Uterus, ovaries, vagina, external genital. Examination per vaginam.
11. Male reproductive system. Testes and their descent, seminiferous tubule and additional glands. Anatomy of prostate gland. Penis, erection and its disorders.
12. Nervous system. Central nervous system: basic terms, structure of brain and spinal cord, spinal and cerebral meninges. Grey and white matter, primary brain centres. Sensory and motoric neural tracts. Autonomous nervous system. Spinal fluid and its circulation.
13. Nervous system 2. Peripheral nervous system: Spinal nerves and nerve plexuses. Cranial nerves I-XII, their topography and innervation location.
14. Sensory organs, their structure and function. Skin and skin adnexa. Mammary gland, structure and function, mammary lymphaticduct.
Seminars and practical sessions:
1. Basics of cytology and histology of organ systems. Structure of articulation tissue (ligament, cartilage, bone). Structure and function of striated skeletal muscle. Articulation of bones structural and functional, simple joints, compound and complex joints and their movement.
2. Structure of artery and vein wall, blood and lymph capillaries. Blood circulation of foetus. Structure of heart muscle, heart skeleton, structure and function of heart valves. Blood, blood types, blood coagulation, formed blood elements and their function. Principles of immune reaction of the blood and lymphatic systems.
3. Structure and function of larynx, production of voice. Structure of trachea and bronchi. Bronchopulmonary segment, structure of alveolus, exchange of gases.
4. Microscopic structure of the gastrointestinal tract, differences between individual sections. Principles of digestion and absorption of nutrients.
5. Histology of liver tissue, structure of liver lobe, hepatocyte. Structure of pancreas, exocrine pancreas and islets of Langerhans. Bile ducts and gallbladder. Kidneys - renal capsule and medulla, nephron, renal pyramid of Malpighi, blood circulation in kidneys. Structure of urinary bladder and urethra, sphincters.
6. Hormonal activity of ovaries, ovum development. Cyclic changes of uterine endometrium, structure of uterus wall and its changes in pregnancy. Hormonal regulation. Hormonal function of testes, spermatogenesis. Structure and course of funiculus spermaticus. Anatomy of male urethra.
