- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to sketch the issue of globalization, migration and influence of these factors on asylum policy. The students will enlarge the knowledge concerning asylum procedure, national minorities applying for international protection. The current methods of social work will be described as well as their peculiarities, theories of small groups and dynamics of creation of group attitudes occurring in the Czech republic, social policies concerning these minority groups, legislation and social policies concerning minorities with focus on issue of migration and migrants, all on practical examples from this area by the means of discussions between students. The students will participate actively on preparation of contents of seminars by means composition of casuistics focused on economic, social and historical causes of migration but also existence of racism, xenophobia and attitudes and stereotypes in the Czech republic. The course should lead to better orientation in current problems regarding attitude of majority to minority, understanding cultural divergences of minorities and consequently help for better understanding and co-existence of minorities with majority inhabitants.
