The content includes radiodiagnostics, radiotherapy and nuclear medicine as well as connected nursing care and radiation protection. The course teaches basics of examination with X-radiation (classical and modern examining methods), ultrasound and magnetic resonance. The course describes basic radiologic methods beginning with classic skiagraphy and skiascopy, then computed tomography, ultrasound, magnetic resonance, radiotherapy and methods of nuclear medicine. Radiation poisoning is discussed next, as well as its forms and possible protection. After finishing the course, the student will be well informed in suitability of use of radiological methods for imagining particular tissues and in possible therapeutic uses of ionization radiation. Learning outcomes: Professional knowledge: The student acquires and demonstrates basic knowledge of radiological methods and their physical principles. They get to know the possibilities of these methods and their suitability of use in imagining given tissues. Professional skills: The student is able to distinguish images made by different radiological methods. General ability: Student is able to describe and explain source and types of X-radiation, principles of CT, MR, ultrasound, NM. The student is able to describe radiation protection. Competence: The student interprets imagined tissues in regard to the radiological method used, is able to suggest using a suitable radiological method for imagining particular tissue. The student is well informed about work in controlled zone of radiological workplace.
