- Course objectives
- LECTURE The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with the structure and functioning of the human body in terms of single systems. Emphasis will be placed on linking the anatomical and physiological knowledge in such a way that they serve as the basis for many other subjects of study, especially for general and developmental psychology and related clinical sciences. The themes are presented in a range that corresponds to a bachelor's degree of non-medical specialization. SEMINAR The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with the building and operation of the human body in terms of single systems during practical exercises. Emphasis will be placed on linking the anatomical and physiological knowledge in such a way that they serve as the basis for many other subjects of study, especially for general and developmental psychology and related clinical sciences. The themes are presented in range that corresponds to a bachelor's degree of non-medical specialization. The Simulation Center can be used for the seminars, which has 6 specialized laboratories and a computer classroom. The Simulation Center is equipped with the latest simulation models, anatomical models, computer models of physiological and psychological anatomical atlas in three-dimensional environment, CD-ROMs and other teaching aids, and will serve the practical training of the knowledge acquired.
- Syllabus
- LECTURE
1. Medical sciences. The basic orientation in the human body. The cell and its basic characteristics, tissue, organ, organ system.
2. Motion system, the general structure of bone, skeleton. Structure and function of muscles, muscle groups.
3. Blood and circulatory system. Composition and function of blood. Organization and function of the heart, heart activity. Blood and lymph circulation.
4. Respiratory system. Structure, function and separation of the respiratory tract. Lung, respiratory mechanics. External and internal respiration.
5. Digestive system. Structure and function of the digestive tract. Digestive enzymes and their functions.
6. Nutrition Physiology. Regulation of body temperature.
7. Urinary system. Excretion of wastes. Skin system, structure and function, accessory organs.
8. Metabolic activity. External and internal secretion. General characteristics of the endocrine glands. Overview of the endocrine glands, hormones and their effects.
9. Reproductive system. Reproductive system and sexual development of male and female. Physiology of pregnancy.
10. Receptors. Sensory organs.
11. Neural control of the organism. General structure and function of the central nervous system (CNS). Structure and function of the spinal cord, spinal nerves. Structure and function of individual brain sections. Cortex, analyzers. Packaging, metabolism and blood supply of the CNS.
SEMINAR
1. Basic orientation in the human body using simulation models. The cell and its basic characteristics, tissue, organ, organ system, using teaching aids in the electronic environment.
2. Motion system. Bones and joints. Muscular system - demonstration of bones, joints, muscles on anatomical models, student?s work in three-dimensional electronic environment. Samples of native X-ray images of the skull, chest, pelvis and limbs.
3. Blood, blood circulation, lymph circulation. Cardiovascular system - demonstration on models. Student's work in three-dimensional electronic environment. Video. Sample images from vasographic examinations. The use of simulation models.
4. Respiratory system - demonstration on anatomical models. Evaluation of airway function. Lungs, breathing mechanics - work with physiological atlas in a three-dimensional electronic environment. Using simulation models, including simulations of pathological conditions. Video.
5. Gastrointestinal system. Demonstration of the internal organs on anatomical and physiological models. Sample images of the contrast examination. Tomography - a video.
6. Nutrition Physiology ? students' work in the simulation center using the selected models. Regulation of body temperature, the temperature measurement methods - training, records, use of simulation models, including simulations of pathological conditions.
7. Urogenital system. Demonstration of the internal organs on anatomical models and demonstration of retroperitoneal space in the local simulation models, demonstration of catheterization. Sample images of the contrast examinations, CT and MRI. Video.
8. Metabolic activity. Endocrine glands, hormones and their effects - the student's work in three-dimensional electronic environment, the CD recording drive.
9. Reproductive system and sexual development of males and females - work with the anatomical and physiological models, the use of electronic devices, CD-ROM. Physiology of pregnancy and spontaneous delivery - Simulation Center, a demonstration on simulation models. Video.
10. Receptors. The sensory organs - the student's work in an electronic environment, demonstration on models. Selected diagnostic methods - sight, hearing, in the simulation center. Video.
11. Nervous system. Demonstration models of the brain and spinal cord. Examples of neural structures on sets of brain slices. Selected CNS imaging: carotid and vertebral angiography, CT and MRI.
