Course objectives
The course provides basic knowledge of selected topics of social policy in the wider international and national context, including the ethical and social dimensions. The lesson topics offer an overview of new approaches, not only in relation to social policy, but also to the field of business and public administration. The current trend of the globalization of economy brings new challenges which the current as well as the emerging generation should be able to address with the knowledge of current theories dealing with this issue. The course provides students with information about current issues of social policy in relation to social responsibility, volunteering, charitable giving, philanthropy, and altruism following the application of these approaches in practice in the Czech Republic conditions and on the world scale. These theoretical and subsequently practical examples will be applicable for the students not only in further studies but especially in their future professional life. Study Outcomes: Professional Knowledge: Student is able to explain and apply knowledge from the field of social policy aimed at new findings in the ethical and social dimension. Professional Skills: The student can orient themselves in new areas of social policy and new approaches to financing. General Qualification: The student understands the knowledge acquired during their lessons and can apply them in further studies and in their professional life. Competences: The student will be able to define the needs of stakeholders in the development of the society, focusing on the overall quality of life.

  • 1. The "risk society", new social risks. The vision of sustainable development.
    2. Human solidarity and moral dimension, social marketing.
    3. The issues of public good, social beneficial effect and solidarity.
    4. The origins of philanthropy, philanthropic institutions in the Czech Republic and in the world.
    5. The vision and the phenomenon of social entrepreneurship.
    6. Current trends in social policy, new topics of social policy.
    7. Corporate social responsibility, international initiatives - significance, bases and definitions.
    8. Corporate social responsibility in the world and in the Czech Republic.
    9. The pillars of CSR, implementation methodology of responsibility principles, organizational activities, the role of social partners.
    10. Social policy and services for specific groups of the population. Social integration in the regional, national and European context.
    11. Quality and quality management in social services and public administration in the context of the individual needs of recipients of social assistance.
    12. Comparison of social services in the Czech Republic and in the EU countries.
    13. Programmes of social inclusion, stability and perspective of social services, new trends in social work. Best practices
