- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the discipline of Social Gerontagogy, which is a social pedagogical discipline focusing on the target group of seniors. This discipline primarily monitors the relationship between education and the environment (senior living space), and also focuses on the prevention of risky behavior. The basic category is the mentioned environment, its effects on the individual are monitored and possibilities of its modification are considered to support the set educational goals.
- Learning outcomes
- Above all, students should be able (all in relation to the target group of seniors): • to define social pedagogy as a scientific discipline; • distinguish between a narrower and broader concept of social pedagogy; • distinguish the perception of social pedagogy as a frontier, applied and transdisciplinary science discipline; • to introduce significant milestones in the development of social pedagogy as a scientific discipline; • to define the subject (content) of social pedagogy; • characterize areas of social pedagogy; • characterize the tasks and current challenges of social pedagogy; • structure and characterize methods of social pedagogy. • characterize the competences of the social educator; • characterize the relationship between social pedagogy and social work; • characterize the relationship between social pedagogy and etopedy; • characterize the relationship between social and leisure education; • to define the term “environment”; • characterize the determinants of human development; • characterize individual typologies of the environment; • analyze the environment in which a senior lives in terms of individual typologies; • express in their own words the role of the environment in education; • define the term pedagogy of the environment and give examples; • charaterize the area of social deviation in relation to the target group of seniors (senior as a subject and object); • to characterize possible methods of social gerontagogical activity and their use.

- 1. Social gerontagogy - characteristics, basic terminology. Social gerontagogy as a part of social pedagogy
2. History of social gerontagogy - personalities, constitution based on other scientific disciplines
3. Current relationship of social gerontagogy and social work
4. The current relationship of social gerontagogy and leisure education
5. Environment - basic typology (according to size; according to realized activities etc.)
6. Influence of environment on education and formation of individual.
7. Socialization in senior age.
8. Media education, financial literacy, computer education
9. Pedagogy of environment.
10. Methods of social gerontagogical activity applicable in work with seniors
11. Facilities dealing with work with seniors. Climate and atmosphere.
12. Personality of social pedagogue (gerontagogue)
13. Lifestyle of seniors. Quality of life.
14. Social deviation. Risky behavior of seniors and socio-pathological phenomena perpetrated on seniors
