Course objectives
The aim is to develop knowledge and skills in the base areas of general management and human resources management. For each student, by its interactive highlighting of examples of those aspects that will be existentially important to them, the course also pursues the utilitarian goal of helping their job search after graduating from university studies, in particular: the principles of writing a CV, motivation sheet, self-presentation when applying for a job, search, selection, getting a job, orientation (induction sheet), possibilities of applying diagnostic methods to obtain a job or planning a career, etc.
Learning outcomes
Professional knowledge: Students acquire and demonstrate knowledge of the importance of management and human resources in the professional life of a person and their basic functions, goals, forms, methods and means, including the characteristics of levels of management and tasks of HR departments, their contribution to the success of the institution, but also of the employees, as set in the framework of the Labour Code.

Professional skills: Students are well versed in the issues of modern management and human resources, their key schools (including their main representatives and their benefits), and elements of their genesis. The are reliably familiar with the relevant literature, can locate, interpret and apply the information in practice.

General qualification: Students are able to perceive the issues of management and human resources / personnel management in the context of hominid, legal and economic disciplines. They they are able to not only use and apply their knowledge and skills in practice, but also to independently develop and seek new knowledge, approaches and methods in relation to the needs of life and work in the field, to react flexibly to current circumstances, choose and adopt the right decisions, assuming responsibility for them as well.

  • 1. Definition of key categories and concepts; pre-classical management, classical management (scientific, bureaucratic, administrative, traditional in our conditions); behaviourist, modern, empirical and post-modern, representatives of various "schools"
  • 2. Characteristics of European, American and Japanese management
  • 3. The subject of management, focus in the 3rd millennium; forms and methods of training, development and cultivation of competences
  • 4. Functions of management; planning, organizing, leadership of people, supervision, decision making
  • 5. Subjects and objects of management
  • 6. Principles of management
  • 7. Management of Human Resources / Personnel management and its functions in the institution and its contribution to contemporary issues of personnel management in the Czech Republic
  • 8. Personnel planning - planning careers; purpose and main tasks of personnel planning
  • 9. Creation and analysis of jobs; recruitment; internal and external resources
  • 10. Personnel selection; assessment of the applicant; selection criteria, validity and reliability of the factors used to predict successful job performance (predictors); stages and methods; presentation of jobseekers; conducting interviews with job seekers; recruitment and orientation of personnel
  • 11. Guest workers; objectives, forms, methods and conclusions of the evaluation; deployment, dismissal and retirement of workers
  • 12. Training workers in the system of personnel work; forming ability of human labour and the formation of working abilities employee (employee); identification of training needs; planning, training methods and the effectiveness of the training program

Labour relations and legislative framework for personnel work; working conditions; working hours and environment; services provided to workers; occupational safety and health protection of workers; collective bargaining and union status; labour discipline; employee relations; information system in HR and information
