- Course objectives
- The course introduces students to the importance of social responsibility in the private and public sectors as well as in the conditions of the whole society.During the semester, students become familiar with the current concept of social responsibility in the world and in the Czech Republic.They will learn tools and measuring of social responsibility in companies and organizations.The course will also include an introduction of the issues from the perspective of international organizations (OECD, EU, BLF).Students will gain practical insight into key areas of social responsibility and will be able to compare the approaches to the concept from the perspective of the whole society.They will be able to apply their knowledge to the principles of corporate social responsibility from the perspective of companies, organizations, employees and citizens.

- Professional Knowledge
Basic understanding of the theory of social responsibility: terminology, concepts and approaches related to the issue from the perspective of major world organizations.
Professional Skills
Ability to define social responsibility and its development in terms of global and domestic environment.Apply the concept of social responsibility in the private and public sectors.
General Qualification
Students will acquire basic theoretical knowledge of social responsibility, will be able to understand the issues and link them to related concepts in the Czech Republic and on the international plane.Students will be able to distinguish and evaluate the degree and extent of social responsibility in various areas of its operation, as well as to suggest improvements. - Syllabus
- 1. The concept of corporate social responsibility (world development, approaches, history, important representatives).
- 2. The concept of corporate social responsibility (development in the Czech Republic, approaches, important representatives).
- 3. Areas of influence of corporate social responsibility (economic, environmental, social).
- 4. Implementing the concept of accountability in organizations (attitudes, motivation and concept formation).
- 5. Evaluation and reporting of social responsibility.
- 6. Criticism of the concept of social responsibility.
- 7. Views on the issue of social responsibility in terms of major world organizations (OECD, EU).
- 8. Related concepts and business ethics (Corporate Citizenship, Work-life balance, philanthropy, sustainable development, etc.).
- 9. Social responsibility of universities (examples of good practice).
- 10. Manifestations of social responsibility (initiatives, projects and activities in the Czech Republic).
- 11. Examples of good practice in the Czech Republic and abroad.
